People Power the Gandy
We are a group of people trying to promote keeping the trail for non-motorized uses during non-winter months of the year.
Important events at this time:
22 January at 2:00 PM – Polk County Board meeting: Resolution No. 92-18: Resolution to Develop Revision to Gandy Dancer Trail Polk County Segment Master Plan – Committee Report/Discussion and Action.
23 January at 9:00 AM – Polk County Environmental Services Committee: Stower and Gandy trails are on the agenda.
26 January at 5:00 PM – Candlelight ski on the Stower Seven Lakes Trail: Amery, WI. Details can be found here: Stower candlelight ski.
How can you help?
Contact your County Board of Supervisors and ask them to keep the trail for non-motorized uses during non-winter months. Key points:
- Be positive and let them know you are from the friends group that wants to be the county’s friend in promoting the trails.
- Relate what you are saying to the type of committee you are addressing right away.
- Two minutes or less is more than enough. It is awkward getting cut-off and you don’t have a chance to end on a positive note.
- Ask them to drop the plan to motorize the trails, and keep them people powered.
- Say thank you!
Please attend a meeting and to share your positive silent sport experiences on either or both of these trails!
